Why is the electric/pneumatic tool leaving marks on the parent material?

Question:

There is concern with regards to the tooling and potential defect left on the face of the part.

The tooling leaves a mark on the face of the aluminum part.

The mark (darker ring/circle) is from contact of the nosepiece to the face of the aluminum part.

Is there any way that this can be eliminated or controlled without compromising the depth requirement ?

Answer:

The problem is known to us, to some customers it is not a problem at all, depends mainly on the mother material the inserts are installed in.

Nevertheless, we have been working on a nice solution, which incorporates a polymer (POM) sleeve, which is of course softer than the aluminum or other metals requiring an insert to be installed.

The clearance data you is that of a plastic sleeve, which is a little thicker than the metal sleeve.
